2012 Skechers GOrun “Mr. Quiggly”
Anticipation for the spot has been building over the last month after SKECHERS introduced the world to Mr. Quiggly—the adorable pooch who quickly became an unexpected star by using SKECHERS GOrun revolutionary lightweight mid-foot strike running shoes as a secret weapon for his big race, and exemplifying how an “underdog” can achieve something remarkable. A media frenzy exploded when news outlets compared the footwear company’s previous Super Bowl spot, which starred Kim Kardashian, to this year’s commercial with Mr. Quiggly.

MetLife Runs Its First-Ever Super Bowl Ad
MetLife, a leading global provider of insurance and employee benefit programs announced it will run a 30-second Super Bowl ad that will feature the Peanuts characters and dozens of other celebrities never before seen on TV together. MetLife’s new ad delivers the message that everyone, everywhere, should have access to the financial security they need, and getting it doesn’t have to be difficult.
MetLife is using the big game as a high-profile springboard to launch new national advertising. With the tagline “MetLife: I Can Do This,” the campaign empowers and inspires consumers to act on their own best intentions, and demonstrates that getting insurance doesn’t have to be as complicated, costly or time-consuming as people assume.
The 30-second ad runs during the first commercial break of the fourth quarter of the game.
The advertising agency behind the new campaign is MetLife’s agency of record, Crispin Porter + Bogusky. The agency developed the campaign concept and creative content, as well as marketing and advertising executions.
The campaign will continue with another 30-second anthemic spot, “Piano,” airing later in February. A social media campaign featuring characters from the “Everyone” spot will run before, during and after the game on Facebook. An additional three TV spots will launch starting in late February, each touching on the different themes supporting MetLife’s term-life insurance products. Print and digital elements will also support the launch.

Toyota Releases Some Super Bowl XLVI Pregame Commercials
Aiming to promote the newest Camry, Toyota will return to Super Bowl advertising this weekend for the first time in three years.
Among Toyota’s advertisements during Super Bowl coverage will be one that features the Scott County plant and eight of its workers, and showcases Kentucky’s role in building the vehicle that has been the best-selling car in America for 10 years straight and 14 of the past 15 years. The Camry has been assembled in Georgetown since the plant opened in 1988.
The 60-second commercial opens with scenes of the Bluegrass countryside shrouded in a cold, early morning fog. Against a quiet soundtrack of piano and strings and scenes of the plant coming to life for the day comes a voiceover by 15-year Toyota veteran Sean Cooley.
Along with scenes of life in Central Kentucky, the feel-good ad shows workers at various stages of the production process and touts Toyota’s dedication to quality, a perception that took a major hit in recent years with a spate of recalls.
The ad will air between 3 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, during the pregame show on NBC. Discussion is under way on how to market the advertisement after that.
“Connections” is an expansive film made up of real and fictional stories. There are nearly 7 million Camry stories out there. Yours could start on Sunday, February 5th.

“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” follows the team as they look to get revenge against a Cobra spy who set them up. Starring Johnson, WIllis and Channing Tatum, the movie hits theaters June 29.
Chrysler Super Bowl Ad to Feature Clint Eastwood
Chrysler plans to air a two-minute Super Bowl commercial during the broadcast of this Sunday’s big game. It will be the second year in a row the auto maker has aired a two-minute commercial, part of a growing trend of advertisers running commercials longer than the typical 30-second spot. The ad is expected to feature actor Clint Eastwood giving the country a pep talk.
This year many advertisers have been releasing their big game ads early, in an effort to take advantage of the buzz leading up to the game. Chrysler, however, hasn’t discussed its Super Bowl ad plans.
